A Violinist's Guide to Scottish Fiddling Reviews
This is a great instructional book on how to include ornamentations in Scottish fiddling! For those that aren't auditory learners (I'm a visual learner), or those just wanting to learn a different technique, this guide walks you through the different methods to get the correct 'feel' of the Scots and their music. Great background on the types of tunes used in a set and then some. Being a fan of Scottish music and playing as well, this is a must for anyone that wants to hone their fiddle skills.
This book contains more detailed guidance to Scottish fiddling than I have seen in any other book in the 10 years ai have been learning Scottish fiddle. No one else addresses ornamentation, style, and tempo as thoroughly. An excellent buy for the aspiring Scottish fiddler!
This is a great book for anyone wanting to learn to play Scottish Music.
