The Complete Illustrated History of Catholicism & the Catholic Saints: A Comprehensive Account Of The History, Philosophy And Practice Of Catholic ... And A Guide To The Most Significant Saints Reviews
I understand a lot more about my religion than I did before.mEasy to understand and has a lot more info on the Saints that I needed.
VERY helpful book about Roman Catholicism and the Catholic Saints -- recommended for Confirmation POrep (I taught from it for years)
Very informative. Still reading it here and there. Good book to have for a new catholic.
Great book. Lots of info. And nice illustrations. It is rather smallish and stocky, making keeping it open while reading somewhat difficult. We use it for our home school and the kids enjoy the Saints information especially. Would recommend.
Beautiful book about the Saints. Have enjoyed finding new friends.
Length: 512 pages.
An extremely thorough account of Catholicism as well as the saints. Nicely organized with some relevant illustrations throughout. Only (minor) downside is that because of the book's dimensions (which make it easy to carry around), the print is extremely small. You may feel like reaching for a magnifying glass to read it.
As expected, this is mostly a fine objective guide to Catholicism, but it shows a a modernist bias. On page 107, for example, it addresses conservative opposition to Second Vatican Council in less than a paragraph and they refer to John Paul II as a conservative Pope! They do not go in depth into the Tridentine Rite or any of the eastern rites. It is very interesting, filled with nice color photographs, and plenty of saints are included in the directory. There are brief, clear summaries of about one page for each of the saints included and several insight pages which go into detail about cerrtain groups of people or points of history.
