Lyric Preludes in Romantic Style: 24 Short Piano Pieces in All Keys Reviews
These short pieces accomplish several goals. First they are excellent for developing nuanced playing. Second they provide experience in all the major and minor keys. Third, they do this using early intermediate skill level. The size of chords are very manageable for small hands (Although octaves are used, dense and tiring textures are not employed.), yet the sounds evoked are satisfying for all age levels.
Very nice pieces for the intermediate player. They are difficult enough to be challenging, but not overly difficult. Each piece is short, only 1 or 2 pages, which I like. Beautiful pieces. I love almost all of them.
I bought this book for a student who has a very unique taste in repertoire. Though this book is titled "in Romantic style"- I would classify it more as 20th/21st century. The songs are unique in style and theme. It's also a great aide for helping the intermediate student learn key signatures. Some of the songs are quite challenging but are balanced out by their brevity. None of them are too long.
One of the best teaching collections out there.
Very nice intermediate pieces that sound more complex than they really are.
Great book for intermediate players..
This book has some of the most famous Gillock pieces. I recommend this book to all intermediate players.
My student loves this book. The songs are easy but not too easy. They are nice and short and he uses it to learn improvisation.
