Van Horne's Road Reviews
If one is interested in either the history of Canada and its people, or in the history of North American railroads, this book is an essential volume to have. So far as I know, there is no other book which does as good a job of covering the building of Canada's transcontinental railroad -- which was even more essential to the history of Canada as the Union Pacific/Central Pacific was to that of the United States. Plus the book is very well written, and the revised edition has more fascinating photographs.
This book is a gift, but it looks like exactly what my husband asked for. He wanted a history of the building of the Canadian railroad. This looks extraordinary with wonderful photography and first person accounts. I know he will be thrilled with this present. There was not another book which seemed to offer this perspective, so I am very pleased with my purchase.
A great history book. Very good historic pictures
This book is a must read for all railroad fans, no matter what country you are from. Best book i've read in a very long time. well worth the money i paid. A very well documented book on the building of the Van Horne Road, Railroad across Canada.
