The Ultimate Guide to Collectible LEGO Sets: Identification and Price Guide Reviews
This is a great book for anyone with a LEGO collection. The author highlights a wide variety of themes and why they are appealing to collectors, builders and investors. I encourage everyone to read this book to discover some unexpected insights into what makes a LEGO set appreciate in value and why certain themes never do. After collecting LEGO for a couple years I thought I had a pretty grasp on what drives the aftermarket prices, but this book gave me a whole new perspective.
If you're a collector or fan of LEGO sets, you'll probably like THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO COLLECTIBLE LEGO SETS; IDENTIFICATION AND PRICE GUIDE. Its only real drawback is that the prices are already out of date, as of the date of publication, and are kind of low (in varying degrees). The book generally limits itself to LEGO sets that were created and released from 2000 and after, but includes a handful of pre-2000 sets (e.g., 8480 Space Shuttle; 6086 Black Knight's Castle).
A very well organized and written book that can be used both as a price guide and a way to get an insiders perspective on some of these sets. My boys both loved thumbing through it looking at the pictures of some of the sets they have never seen before. Have already had a few of their friends come over and look at it to see which of their sets are in the book.
Great read and very informative. This book highlighted several of the more incredible LEGO sets that were available to general public as they made excellent display pieces. These were sets that commanded above average price when available at stores, higher still when they were discontinued. A few notable examples were the Grand Carousel and Statue of Liberty.
I visit Brickpicker.com everyday, many times a day and been a member for over 2 years. There is no site like it out there that does more for people that are interested in buying and selling LEGO. It is a valuable resource and a smart move by a publisher to contact Ed and Jeff Mack to work on books for them. The book is of high quality with great content and photos. I have looked through it several times and it has a permanent spot on my desk. There is no question at all as to whether you should buy it or not. Just hit the 1-Click Buy Now!!
Great book, very well put and fun to read. Brings out the kids, and collector in you.... got to buy more Lego.
