Old Windows Made Easy: The Simple Way to Restore Wood Windows Reviews
Don't get me wrong: this is a good book. It covers most of the basic aspects of handling and repairing the windows of old houses, but it falls short of covering the details of full restoration and sealing. At $50 for 75 smallish pages, it's outrageously expensive. I'd recommend it if it were (much) cheaper or more comprehensive, but it's just not worth this price.
I love how positive and can-do this author is--it's really encouraging. Instructions are especially good for repairing old windows that have been painted shut or that might need taking apart and reassembling for some reason. Less information for folks who might have missing stops or muntins or more serious issues.
It's a start, but would prefer more detailed information about how traditional wood windows are built, installed and repaired.
This book is way overpriced for what is inside and the information that is communicated to the buyer. Save your money and buy another type of old window specific book. I did buy The Window Sash Bible written by Steve Jordan and it is great guide with lots of useful information.
Good information will use to rehab 100+ yr old windows
good book. great deal of practical details.
Lots of good, helpful information in this book.
This book includes all the basics for restoring your windows. The instructions are clear and simple and the accompanying photos are excellent. I wish this book was available when we started. It would have saved countless hours of research, collecting the information piecemeal from dozens of sources. It includes just what you need to know, without any extra fluff to amuse or confuse you.
