Goldilocks: Grayscale Adult Coloring Book (Beautiful Fairy Tales) (Volume 3) Reviews
This is a very cute and sweet coloring book of grayscale designs. The designs in the book are based on the illustrations in Ruth Sanderson's storybook version of “Goldilocks”. This is the third coloring book in the series of grayscale coloring books by Ms. Sanderson and I hope there will be more in the future.
I received this book yesterday (my 1st in this series) and am already a fan! The illustrations are beautifully rendered and a delight to color. I prefer to work with watercolor pencils and then use a small brush with excess water blotted off so I don't get the paper too wet, yet I can blend my colors well. I have found that using an X-acto knife to remove the pages 1st really helps when suing this technique. As has been clearly stated, this paper is not really meant to hold up with water-based colors - however, I've been pleased with my results, and certainly have had books that ripple/curl up after the water is applied much worse than this one did. My pages are really still pretty flat. I suspect the other books in this series are going onto my wish list!
I love Ruth Sanderson's art!! I have one of her original coloring books, in fact two copies because I loved it so much. But this book is such a disappointment . The pages are so thin ...They curl on the corners as you color!! The background figures are do muted you can't make out any details. I've colored the first two pages....And I'm giving up!😭
For the price of this book it should be a 5 Starr review but I was disappointed in the quality. The drawings are so so but the further you get coloring youfealize the pictures just fade away. How do you color leaves and flowers without edging. I was shocked. I bought two and find them both very low level in quality pictures. You have to figure what is suppose to be on the picture and try to add it. Sadly I am not an artist. I think this needs to be addressed by the author. Love the pictures if the lines were all there. I wouldn’t buy anymore as the price is the highest I ever paid. So sad. I looked forward to getting them. Save your money.
Ruth Sanderson hits it out of the park with this wonderful book!! After seeing this I had to order her other books!!
If you love the children's story, then you'll love how the artist captured the story in illustration.
Love Ruth's coloring books and this is no exception!
