Willem Lange with his indomitable spirit relays the stories of his life with Mother, his wife of 50+ years. Interspersed with other stories of life, yes, but mainly the life Willem and Mother lived, and then with their children as they came along. He does not lecture, but gives us his unvarnished truth. To those of us who have been married, it is quite clear that relationships are fraught with danger, but also with love and warmth.
I saw Willem Lange on PBS a couple of months ago. He was being interviewed and read from one of his books, "Intermittent Bliss."
I have been a huge fan of Willem for many years. He is a pivotal person who represents the outdoors in the White Mountains with his weekly television show of the hikes/adventures in New England. After reading his book, I felt I have now gotten to know Willem better.
I just love his style and story telling. I have read most of his books, and have enjoyed each one. I kept one in my purse or backpack for a quick read.
Excellent read with universal truths. There is lots to like and much wisdom. Life is not always fair or easy, all you can do is your
