Elsie & Pooka Stories of the Sabbats and Seasons: Yule & Imbolc Reviews
I have been a fan of Pooka for many years. I have been following Pooka and Elsie's adventures on the Pooka Pages website and I follow them on Facebook. I absolutely adore this book. I read it the second it arrived and it will be read to my grandchildren. My children loved Elsie and Pooka stories from the Pooka Pages issues so, this was obviously a necessary purchase. This is an excellent example of literature meant for little witchlings and their parents. (I am an adult and look forward to every new issue and every book) If you are on the fence about whether this is worth getting, GET IT. There are recipes in the book to correspond to each Sabbat and they are meant for little ones, but older witchlings will also enjoy them. Pooka is just what one would expect of a young witch's familiar and of a black kitty in general. The artwork is created with love as are the stories. You will become a fan of Elsie and Pooka whether you are young or old, they are simply too sweet and adorable not to love.
My copy just arrived and I am THRILLED with the quality! I am a grandma and my grandkids LOVE Pooka and Elsie and all their friends. The stories are sweet and informative for teaching little ones the cycles of the year. it's lovely to have them in this book, which is everything I expected, It includes herb lore, recipes, craft projects that I can't wait to try with or without the kiddos...
I'm a fan of Pooka for many years, and I also collaborated few years ago for coloring pages! The artworks and stories of Lora Gaddis are so wonderful to learn and explain to little ones the Magic of Life. Elsie and Pooka are so endearing!! Love them xxx
This is similar to the last review but it really applies! Absolutely one of the best Pagan kids books out there! We have enjoyed Pooka Pages free e-magazines for a few years now. This definitely does not disappoint. Like the Ostara issue, this is beautifully laid out and had us all giggling at Pooka's antics while pondering the spiritual messages of the holiday season. Thank you! This will be treasured for years.
Absolutely fantastic! Love the Pooka stories! I cannot wait to see more :)
I've read many other stories from Lora about Pooka and his little witch Elsie, and even though I have to translate it for my daughter I do it because it gives her so much fun and laughter listening to them. It is also a fun and easy way to introduce the different sabbats or holidays of paganism and some of what they are all about. I really hope that there will be more and perhaps a chance to buy more stories from the same sabbats and other interesting tips and suggestions for kids to do during each one. And for those who haven't been to the website I would recommend a visit Pooka Pages (http://www.pookapages.com/) and have some fun.
My daughter has been a fan of Pooka for months we are so happy to actually have the books. These are excellent representations of sacred Sabbath's for kids filled with humor and adventure. A must read for pagan kids that nurtures our children, Pooka rocks!
What a delightful, fun and wonderful way to share the Sabbats with children; and I must say for adults in helping to share the Sabbats with their young ones. Lora Craig-Gaddis's writing style is filled with whimsy, facts and fun; a must have book for your Pagan library.
