Flight For Sanity Reviews
Karlene Petitt's latest book touches on familiar topics from her earlier efforts: piloting skills diminishing due to automation, airline politics, and safety. This time around the focus turns to attempts by unknown forces to have the main protagonist removed from flight status for possible mental imbalance after she submits a scathing report on the airline's safety lapses, thus the title Flight for Sanity.
Wow - what a page-turner! The chapters are fairly short, and reading one chapter is like eating peanuts - you just can't stop. Great plot, could be right out of todays - or tomorrows - headlines. It's been a while since I read previous books in the series, and the characters continue right where they left off. But even if you haven't read the first books in the series (I recommend you do!) you won't be lost, as back-story is fully fleshed out. You will definitely connect with Darby, Kat and John, and will be on the edge of your seat trying to figure out what the bad guys will do next.
Those of a certain age will recall listening to the celebrated weekly radio series beginning with the distinctive voice intoning, “Who knows what evil lurks in hearts of men?” Set against a backdrop of contemporary aviation and politics, Karlene’s latest novel gives considerable insight toward an answer to that question. You could say that “Flight to Sanity” presents automation as both a valuable and a dangerous tool. Karlene uses this tension to skillfully educate readers to the inherent dangers of using automation for personal gain rather than to enhance safety.
Flight for Sanity- a perfect title for the fourth in a series of Karlene Pettit’s work. This book is a page turner that I did not want to put down. The plot takes you in and makes you feel like you are part of Kat, Darby, Jackie and John’s life. This book is not for the timid, makes you stay awake at night wondering what is happening in this world and that the people with power can do unthinkable things. There are many twists and turns that keep you on the edge and not want to put this book down. Well done!
Another in the series of plot twisting ups and downs with Darby and friends as they wrestle with the challenges of modern aviation, large corporations and government agencies at the intersection of increasing automation and human interaction. Could be taken from any of several aviation events of recent years and a story that you can't put down. Fun read and the kind of detail that you would expect from an accomplished aviation professional. Highly recommend for an engrossing read, constantly evolving plot twists and a nice addition to the earlier series.
Once again Karlene has created a fast moving, exciting, informative, and thought provoking look into the airlines industry. With each book you feel like you are in the middle of current news headlines, and this one is no exception. A well written page turner that makes you wonder what is really going on behind the scenes at the major airlines. Can't wait for the next one!
This book was a great read. All the better knowing there's more truth to this tale than any of us would like to think!
Riveting..bravely accurate and true! She's brilliant and doesn't let anyone get over on her! Her flying skills are evident throughout the dialogue of the Pilots. All so exciting and she jumps right in from the start!
